💾 How to Install the Google Maps Extension?

2. Enable Developer Mode

Before installing the extension, you must enable Developer Mode in your browser.

1. Edge Browser

  • Go to [Extensions][Manage Extensions] · or type edge://extensions/ in the address bar
  • Toggle on [Developer Mode] at the bottom-left of the page

3. Install the Extension

After the prep work, use one of these 2 methods to install.

1. Drag and Drop (Recommended)

Drag the downloaded zip (.zip file) directly onto the extension management page (with Developer Mode enabled) · release the mouse to install.

After installation, click the [Pin] icon to pin the extension to your browser toolbar for easy access.

2. Load Unpacked Extension

  • Step 1 — extract the downloaded zip to a local folder · e.g., create a google-maps folder on your desktop and extract
  • Step 2 — on the extension management page, click [Load unpacked]
  • Step 3 — in the file picker, select the extracted folder (e.g., google-maps) · click [Select Folder]

❓ FAQ

Q1 · Installation error: Invalid value for 'web_accessible_resources[0]'?

Usually means your browser kernel version is too old. Update to the latest version of your browser · or use the recommended 📚 Cent Browser.

Q2 · QQ Browser drag-drop install shows Could not create temporary directory for zipped extension?

Some QQ Browser versions don't support drag-drop install. Use the alternative 📚 Load Unpacked Extension method.
