I. What is Email Tracking?โ€‹

1. What can Email Tracking do?โ€‹

  • Know when, where, and on what device the recipient opened your email, and how many times?
  • Know when, where, and on what device the recipient clicked a link in your body, and how many times?
  • Know when, where, and on what device the recipient downloaded an attachment, and how many times?
  • Accurately tell whether the recipient used computer or mobile to open / click / download, down to the OS (Android, iOS, Windows, OSX)

2. Things to know about Email Trackingโ€‹

  • Network limits: On an intranet (LAN), or networks with restricted access, the tracking server may not be reachable, so tracking may not work
  • Client limits: Some email clients block image loading or use plain text mode only โ€” tracking won't work either
  • Unlike a traditional read receipt, Email Tracking requires no confirmation from the recipient โ€” it auto-captures opens, link clicks, and attachment downloads
  • If you mass send one email to many (including CC, BCC, etc.), you'll only see the total view count, click count, and download count โ€” you can't tell which recipient did what. We recommend one email per recipient

II. โœ๏ธ Enable Email Tracking When Composing a New Emailโ€‹

1. Enable Trackingโ€‹

2. Tracking Statusโ€‹

  • For emails with read tracking enabled, if the recipient opens it, you can see the read status in Sent emails.

  • Not Read: If the customer hasn't opened the email, the read icon "๐Ÿ‘€" shows gray

III. ๐Ÿš€ Enable Email Tracking for Mass Emailโ€‹

  • Filter active customers: Customers who opened but didn't reply are more valuable than non-openers โ€” good targets for high-frequency outreach
  • Filter intent customers: Customers who opened multiple times can be targeted precisely with better results

    • In the image below, in Other Settings enable Email Tracking (opens, links, attachments)

Main features:

  • Open tracking: Know whether the recipient opened your email
  • Click tracking: Know whether the recipient clicked links in the body
  • Attachment tracking: Know whether the recipient downloaded attachments

2. Tracking Statusโ€‹

  • Check whether a task has Email Tracking enabled
    • On the Mass Email page, check the task's open rate column
      • Tracking Off: Means tracking was not enabled when the task was created
      • Shows percentage: Whether it's 0% or 100%, any percentage means tracking is on

3. Active Readersโ€‹

  • View active readers in mass send tasks
    • 1๏ธโƒฃ Click Task Results on the task to see detailed results

IV. Tracking Logsโ€‹

  • Email Tracking logs the customer's open, click, and download behavior, including detailed data like IP address, ISP, device, and read time during open events.

  • โ“ Can Email Tracking guarantee 100% accuracy?

    • A: No. As mentioned, network limits or client limits (such as plain-text mode, blocked image loading) may cause tracking to fail.
  • โ“ For mass send, can I tell which specific recipient opened / clicked?

    • A: No. For mass send (including CC and BCC), Email Tracking can only tally total opens, clicks, and downloads โ€” you can't locate the specific recipient. For precise tracking, send one-to-one.
  • โ“ Does Laifaxin charge for Email Tracking?

    • A: Currently, Email Tracking in Laifaxin is free and unlimited.
