๐Ÿง  How to develop customers fast using Google Maps?

To expand your customer base efficiently with Google Maps, first understand how it works: the search runs on publicly available information already in its database.

๐ŸŽฏ Core search logic:

  • Search by name โ€” what name do your target customers usually use on the map?
  • Search by category โ€” which industry category do they belong to on the map?

Prep work

Make sure you have the following before you start:

1. Analyze prospect profilesโ€‹

Before going wide, take time to study one typical prospect closely. This is how you find the golden keywords that will drive your searches.

1. Unify the interface languageโ€‹

To keep your keywords accurate (especially across languages), set the Google Maps UI to English.

Google Maps default Chinese UI โ€” business categories shown in Chinese, possible translation drift

Switch the language by appending &hl=en to the URL. See ๐Ÿ“š How to display the Google Maps interface in English.

Google Maps English UI after applying hl=en โ€” business categories displayed with standard English names, easier to identify precisely

2. Extract the core keywordsโ€‹

With the language unified, pull name and category keywords from a target customer's detail page.

โ“ What if there are lots of irrelevant businesses in the results? โ†’ Normal. Refine the data via cloud filtering next. See ๐Ÿ“š How to quickly filter target Google Maps businesses

3. Expand your search keywordsโ€‹

When reviewing the initial results, the more important task โ€” beyond filtering out noise โ€” is discovering new keywords. Many relevant businesses won't be categorized as Light bulb supplier but are still your target customers.

Result category distribution โ€” discovered related categories like Lighting store, Lighting contractor, etc.

Strategy โ€” pull more relevant category keywords from the targets you've already collected:

  • Lighting contractor
  • Lighting store
  • Electrical equipment supplier
  • Lighting consultant
  • Electrical supply store
Iterate the loop

Feed these new keywords back as search inputs and repeat collect โ†’ review โ†’ discover new keywords. Your prospect pool will snowball.

4. Data processing and applicationโ€‹

1. Sync and filterโ€‹

  • Step 1 โ€” ๐Ÿ“š Sync all collected business data to the cloud for centralized management
  • Step 2 โ€” Use cloud views and filters โ€” e.g. "business name or category contains lighting" โ€” to quickly refine your prospect list

Cloud filter view config โ€” name or category field contains lighting ยท matching businesses auto-grouped

2. Extract emails and marketโ€‹

โ“ FAQโ€‹

Q1 ยท Why are my search results poor?โ€‹

The most common reasons are inaccurate keywords or wrong geographic targeting. Make sure you're using the industry category term most commonly used in your target region, and that the map is centered on the right city or area.

Q2 ยท Can I collect faster?โ€‹

Yes. You can ๐Ÿ“š open multiple collection windows to run in parallel for much higher throughput. Also prioritize ๐Ÿ“š high-density popular cities โ€” they usually yield richer results.
