Perfect Mail (@88.com) · Enable Service + 16-char App Password
Perfect Mail (commonly known as 88 Mail) covers 3 suffixes: @88.com / @111.com / @email.cn. Connecting to Laifaxin takes 2 steps:
| Step | What | Required |
|---|---|---|
| 1 Enable IMAP/SMTP service in webmail | Disabled by default — turn it on at webmail [Settings → Client Settings] | Yes |
| 2 Generate a 16-char app password | Not the login password — a 16-char standalone password the system creates | Yes |
When binding, paste the app password into the password field (not your webmail login password) — otherwise it fails 100% of the time.
@88.com / @111.com / @email.cn have identical flows, but server domain prefixes match the email suffix:
| Suffix | IMAP server | SMTP server |
|---|---|---|
@88.com | imap.88.com | smtp.88.com |
@111.com | imap.111.com | smtp.111.com |
@email.cn | imap.email.cn | smtp.email.cn |
Don't mix them! A @88.com address with imap.111.com fails 100% of the time.
1. Server Settings
Match the prefix to your suffix (example: @88.com):
| Type | Server | SSL Port |
|---|---|---|
| IMAP (incoming) | imap.88.com | 993 |
| SMTP (outgoing) | smtp.88.com | 465 |
| POP3 (backup) | pop.88.com | 995 |
Encryption: SSL / TLS
- IMAP: multi-device sync — read/delete on phone instantly reflects on desktop (essential for foreign trade)
- POP3: single-device download; cloud copy deleted by default (suitable for backup/archive)
2. Get the App Password
2.1 Enable IMAP/SMTP service
Sign in to 88.com webmail → top Settings → left Client Settings → turn on both IMAP/SMTP and POP3/SMTP toggles:

Why both: prevents failures if you later switch protocols (IMAP → POP3).
2.2 Create a new app password
On the same Client Settings page → below in the App Password section → click Create New App Password:
3 key reminders:
| Reminder | Detail |
|---|---|
| One client, one password | One for Laifaxin, one for Foxmail, one for iPhone Mail — don't share |
| Use a recognizable label | Recommended: Laifaxin-202605 (with a date for easier cleanup) |
| Copy immediately | The 16-char password is shown only once — gone after closing |
Enter the label → click Confirm:

2.3 Copy the 16-char password
The system shows a 16-char password → click Copy immediately:

- Paste into the Laifaxin binding form (safest, used in the next step)
- Or save to 1Password / Bitwarden first
Do NOT screenshot: screenshots may sync to cloud photo libraries.
3. Bind in Laifaxin
Go to Laifaxin Email Accounts and add your Perfect Mail account:
| Field | What to fill |
|---|---|
| Email address | Full email, e.g., yourname@88.com |
| Password | Paste the app password (NOT the login password!) |
| IMAP server | imap.88.com · port 993 · SSL |
| SMTP server | smtp.88.com · port 465 · SSL |

After binding, turn on email sync + notifications (see Check New Emails).
Common Pitfalls
| Pitfall | Consequence | How to avoid |
|---|---|---|
| Using the login password | Authentication failed | Must use the 16-char app password |
| Dialog closed before copying | Password lost (unrecoverable) | Delete the old record → regenerate |
| Mixing server domains | Both send and receive fail | @88.com uses imap.88.com, not imap.111.com |
| IMAP/SMTP service not enabled | Binding fails 100% | First enable both toggles in Client Settings |
| Using ports 25 / 143 / 110 | Unencrypted / blocked | Use SSL: IMAP 993 / SMTP 465 / POP3 995 |
| Screenshotting the password | Screenshot syncs and leaks | Copy + paste immediately, don't screenshot |
| Mass sending | Rate-limited / temp banned within 24h | Personal mailboxes are 1-on-1 only; bulk → premium channels |
FAQ
Q1 · What is an "app password" and how does it differ from the login password?
The app password (also called "application password / client password / App Password") is a standalone 16-char password Perfect Mail generates for third-party clients.
| Aspect | Login password | App password |
|---|---|---|
| Use | Sign in to 88.com web / app | Used by third-party clients |
| How it's set | You define | System generates 16 chars |
| Revocation | Change password = all apps disconnect | Revoke individually without affecting main account |
| Leak risk | Main account at risk | Only that app affected |
| Viewable later | Yes, always usable | No, shown only once |
Q2 · Are setup flows identical across @88.com / @111.com / @email.cn?
Yes, identical flow — the only difference is the server prefix:
| Suffix | Server prefix | Suffix note |
|---|---|---|
@88.com | imap.88.com / smtp.88.com | Main brand, best known |
@111.com | imap.111.com / smtp.111.com | Early alternate domain |
@email.cn | imap.email.cn / smtp.email.cn | Business positioning |
Webmail login and app-password generation flows are identical across all 3 suffixes.
Q3 · Forgot the app password?
Cannot recover — revoke and regenerate:
| Step | Action |
|---|---|
| 1 | Go to 88.com webmail → Settings → Client Settings |
| 2 | Delete the old record from the App Password list |
| 3 | Click Create New App Password to regenerate |
| 4 | In Laifaxin Email Accounts, update the password and save |
Q4 · How many emails can Perfect Mail send per day?
Perfect Mail doesn't publish a hard limit, but its anti-spam system is strict:
| Phase | Daily volume | Notes |
|---|---|---|
| Week 1 (new bind) | Start at 50 | 5–10 minute intervals |
| Weeks 2–4 | 100–200 | Watch for anomalies |
| Stable | Max 300 | Don't hit the cap |
→ Never "mass blast" at any stage! Mass blasting = 100% triggers anti-spam.
Truly need bulk sending? Use premium channels:
- Doesn't touch your 88 mailbox, no ban risk
- ¥0.007 per email, system auto-throttles
Q5 · Is Perfect Mail good for foreign trade?
| Scenario | Fit | Notes |
|---|---|---|
| 1-on-1 client follow-up | Limited fit | Short, memorable address, but @88.com is unfamiliar overseas |
| Inquiry replies | OK | Business positioning gives some professional feel |
| Bulk cold outreach | Not suitable | Strict anti-spam, bulk gets you banned |
| Multi-touch auto follow-up | Not suitable | Use smart sequence + premium channels |
Verdict: Perfect Mail is mainly for domestic business + commercial communication; for foreign trade, prefer Gmail / Outlook / a custom-domain enterprise mailbox.
Q6 · How to manage multiple app passwords? How to name them "one per client"?
| Client | Recommended label | Purpose |
|---|---|---|
| Laifaxin | Laifaxin-202605 | Foreign-trade marketing |
| Outlook desktop | OutlookDesktop-202605 | Office computer |
| iPhone Mail | iPhoneMail-202605 | Mobile inbox |
| Foxmail | Foxmail-202605 | Backup desktop |
Benefits:
- Leak isolation: losing a phone ≠ losing the whole mailbox
- Auditing: periodically check "which clients are still using this"
- Bulk revocation: switching computers = one-click delete the old record
Q7 · Perfect Mail customer support?
| Channel | Entry | Response |
|---|---|---|
| Help Center | help.88.com | Self-serve FAQ |
| Live chat | "Contact Us" at the bottom of webmail | 1–2 business days |
Support response is mediocre — try self-service first for urgent issues.
Learning Tips
| Topic | Advice |

| International mailboxes preferred for foreign trade | For real foreign trade, use Gmail / Outlook / a custom-domain enterprise mailbox |

About Perfect Mail (@88.com)
What is Perfect Mail?
Perfect Mail (commonly known as 88 Mail) is a Chinese mailbox service known for short, memorable numeric / short-domain suffixes — one of the few domestic providers offering "numeric email addresses".
Key Perfect Mail features:
| Feature | Detail |
|---|---|
| 3 suffixes share one backend | @88.com / @111.com / @email.cn share webmail, mobile app, and server architecture |
| Mandatory app password | Third-party client sign-in requires an app password — login password doesn't work |
| Business positioning | Offers large-capacity VIP, custom-domain suffix, business features |
| Strict anti-spam | Built-in intelligent anti-spam filtering |
Why is Perfect Mail unique?
Perfect Mail's "3 suffixes + mandatory app password" approach:
| Aspect | Perfect Mail | QQ / Gmail |
|---|---|---|
| Number of suffixes | 3 share one backend (@88 / @111 / @email.cn) | 1 |
| App password length | 16 chars | 16 chars |
| Viewable later | No, shown only once | No, shown only once |
| 2FA requirement | Not enforced | Gmail enforces |
→ Perfect Mail has medium setup convenience and medium security. Mandatory app password but no enforced 2FA.
Is Perfect Mail good for foreign trade?
1-on-1 follow-up / inquiry replies Limited fit:
- Email address is short and memorable — low memory cost for overseas customers
- But
@88.combrand is unfamiliar overseas, less trusted than Gmail / Outlook - Recommended only for replying to existing customers
Bulk cold outreach Not suitable at all:
- Strict anti-spam, bulk sending almost certainly triggers anti-spam
- Overseas deliverability is mediocre
Foreign-trade verdict:
- Domestic business / commercial communication → Perfect Mail works
- Foreign trade → Prefer Gmail / Outlook / a custom-domain enterprise mailbox
- Bulk cold outreach → use premium channels (don't tie to 88 Mail)
Perfect Mail vs other mailboxes
| Aspect | Perfect 88 Mail | 163 | Gmail | |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Mainstream suffixes | 3 (88/111/email.cn) | 1 | 4 | 1 |
| Password mechanism | App password | Auth code | Auth code | 2FA + app password |
| Daily send cap | Not published | 500 | 200 | 500-2000 |
| Overseas deliverability | Mediocre | Mediocre | Mediocre | High |
| Anti-spam strictness | High | Medium | Medium | Medium |
| Foreign-trade fit | Not suitable | Not suitable | Not suitable | Recommended |
Foreign-trade priority for mailbox choice: custom-domain enterprise mailbox > Gmail / Outlook > QQ / 163 / 88 > 21CN / 189.
