Perfect Mail (@88.com) · Enable Service + 16-char App Password

Perfect Mail (commonly known as 88 Mail) covers 3 suffixes: @88.com / @111.com / @email.cn. Connecting to Laifaxin takes 2 steps:

StepWhatRequired
1 Enable IMAP/SMTP service in webmailDisabled by default — turn it on at webmail [Settings → Client Settings]Yes
2 Generate a 16-char app passwordNot the login password — a 16-char standalone password the system createsYes

When binding, paste the app password into the password field (not your webmail login password) — otherwise it fails 100% of the time.

Perfect Mail quirk: 3 suffixes share one backend, but server prefixes differ

@88.com / @111.com / @email.cn have identical flows, but server domain prefixes match the email suffix:

SuffixIMAP serverSMTP server
@88.comimap.88.comsmtp.88.com
@111.comimap.111.comsmtp.111.com
@email.cnimap.email.cnsmtp.email.cn

Don't mix them! A @88.com address with imap.111.com fails 100% of the time.

1. Server Settings

Match the prefix to your suffix (example: @88.com):

TypeServerSSL Port
IMAP (incoming)imap.88.com993
SMTP (outgoing)smtp.88.com465
POP3 (backup)pop.88.com995

Encryption: SSL / TLS

IMAP vs POP3 — which to pick
  • IMAP: multi-device sync — read/delete on phone instantly reflects on desktop (essential for foreign trade)
  • POP3: single-device download; cloud copy deleted by default (suitable for backup/archive)

2. Get the App Password

2.1 Enable IMAP/SMTP service

Sign in to 88.com webmail → top Settings → left Client Settings → turn on both IMAP/SMTP and POP3/SMTP toggles:

Perfect Mail webmail - Client Settings: left menu "Client Settings" selected, main area shows IMAP/SMTP and POP3/SMTP toggles both green/enabled, with footer hint "After enabling, use app passwords to sign in from third-party clients"

Why both: prevents failures if you later switch protocols (IMAP → POP3).

2.2 Create a new app password

On the same Client Settings page → below in the App Password section → click Create New App Password:

3 key reminders:

ReminderDetail
One client, one passwordOne for Laifaxin, one for Foxmail, one for iPhone Mail — don't share
Use a recognizable labelRecommended: Laifaxin-202605 (with a date for easier cleanup)
Copy immediatelyThe 16-char password is shown only once — gone after closing

Enter the label → click Confirm:

Perfect Mail webmail - New App Password dialog: title "New App Password", text input filled with "Laifaxin-202605", hint "Use distinct names per client for easier auditing and revocation", with Cancel/Confirm buttons

2.3 Copy the 16-char password

The system shows a 16-char password → click Copy immediately:

Perfect Mail webmail - App Password generated dialog: title "App Password Created", main area shows the 16-char password (e.g., abcd1234efgh5678), with a Copy button on the right and a red hint "Shown only once — cannot recover after closing"

Do these 2 things right after copying
  1. Paste into the Laifaxin binding form (safest, used in the next step)
  2. Or save to 1Password / Bitwarden first

Do NOT screenshot: screenshots may sync to cloud photo libraries.

3. Bind in Laifaxin

Go to Laifaxin Email Accounts and add your Perfect Mail account:

FieldWhat to fill
Email addressFull email, e.g., yourname@88.com
PasswordPaste the app password (NOT the login password!)
IMAP serverimap.88.com · port 993 · SSL
SMTP serversmtp.88.com · port 465 · SSL

Laifaxin binding Perfect Mail: enter yourname@88.com + 16-char app password, IMAP 993 + SMTP 465 SSL; status shows "Active"

After binding, turn on email sync + notifications (see Check New Emails).

FAQ

Q1 · What is an "app password" and how does it differ from the login password?

The app password (also called "application password / client password / App Password") is a standalone 16-char password Perfect Mail generates for third-party clients.

AspectLogin passwordApp password
UseSign in to 88.com web / appUsed by third-party clients
How it's setYou defineSystem generates 16 chars
RevocationChange password = all apps disconnectRevoke individually without affecting main account

Viewable laterYes, always usableNo, shown only once

Q2 · Are setup flows identical across @88.com / @111.com / @email.cn?

Yes, identical flow — the only difference is the server prefix:

SuffixServer prefixSuffix note
@88.comimap.88.com / smtp.88.comMain brand, best known
@111.comimap.111.com / smtp.111.comEarly alternate domain
@email.cnimap.email.cn / smtp.email.cnBusiness positioning

Webmail login and app-password generation flows are identical across all 3 suffixes.

Q3 · Forgot the app password?

Cannot recover — revoke and regenerate:

StepAction
1Go to 88.com webmail → Settings → Client Settings
2Delete the old record from the App Password list
3Click Create New App Password to regenerate
4In Laifaxin Email Accounts, update the password and save

Q4 · How many emails can Perfect Mail send per day?

Perfect Mail doesn't publish a hard limit, but its anti-spam system is strict:

PhaseDaily volumeNotes
Week 1 (new bind)Start at 505–10 minute intervals
Weeks 2–4100–200Watch for anomalies
StableMax 300Don't hit the cap

Never "mass blast" at any stage! Mass blasting = 100% triggers anti-spam.

Truly need bulk sending? Use premium channels:

  • Doesn't touch your 88 mailbox, no ban risk
  • ¥0.007 per email, system auto-throttles

Q5 · Is Perfect Mail good for foreign trade?

Inquiry repliesOKBusiness positioning gives some professional feel
Bulk cold outreachNot suitableStrict anti-spam, bulk gets you banned
Multi-touch auto follow-upNot suitableUse smart sequence + premium channels

Verdict: Perfect Mail is mainly for domestic business + commercial communication; for foreign trade, prefer Gmail / Outlook / a custom-domain enterprise mailbox.

Q6 · How to manage multiple app passwords? How to name them "one per client"?

  • Auditing: periodically check "which clients are still using this"
  • Bulk revocation: switching computers = one-click delete the old record

Q7 · Perfect Mail customer support?

About Perfect Mail (@88.com)

What is Perfect Mail?

Perfect Mail (commonly known as 88 Mail) is a Chinese mailbox service known for short, memorable numeric / short-domain suffixes — one of the few domestic providers offering "numeric email addresses".

Key Perfect Mail features:

FeatureDetail

Mandatory app passwordThird-party client sign-in requires an app password — login password doesn't work

Strict anti-spamBuilt-in intelligent anti-spam filtering

Why is Perfect Mail unique?

Perfect Mail's "3 suffixes + mandatory app password" approach:

App password length16 chars16 chars
Viewable laterNo, shown only onceNo, shown only once

→ Perfect Mail has medium setup convenience and medium security. Mandatory app password but no enforced 2FA.

Is Perfect Mail good for foreign trade?

1-on-1 follow-up / inquiry replies Limited fit:

  • Email address is short and memorable — low memory cost for overseas customers
  • But @88.com brand is unfamiliar overseas, less trusted than Gmail / Outlook
  • Recommended only for replying to existing customers

Bulk cold outreach Not suitable at all:

  • Strict anti-spam, bulk sending almost certainly triggers anti-spam
  • Overseas deliverability is mediocre

Foreign-trade verdict:

  • Domestic business / commercial communication → Perfect Mail works
  • Foreign tradePrefer Gmail / Outlook / a custom-domain enterprise mailbox
  • Bulk cold outreach → use premium channels (don't tie to 88 Mail)
