Yandex Mail (@yandex.com) · Enable Protocols + Generate App Password

Yandex Mail is the free email service from the Russian portal Yandex (Russia's Google-equivalent). Connecting to Laifaxin takes 2 steps:

When binding, paste the app password into the password field (not your Yandex main login password) — otherwise it fails 100% of the time.

Yandex quirk: enable protocols BEFORE generating app password

Unlike QQ / 163 where enabling service and generating password are combined, Yandex puts these on two separate pages:

• Protocol toggles: Mail Settings → Email clients
• App password: Yandex ID → Security → App passwords

→ Common mistake: generating the app password without enabling protocols = binding fails.

1. Server Settings

All Yandex suffixes share the same servers:

2. Enable IMAP/POP3 Protocols (prerequisite)

2.1 Go to All settings

Sign in to mail.yandex.com → top-right gear icon → dropdown → All settings:

2.2 Email clients → check IMAP/POP3 → save

After the page loads, left menu → Email clients → check From the imap.yandex.com server via IMAP → recommend also check POP3 → click Save changes:

No protocols enabled = app password useless

Even if you generate an app password, without protocols enabled Laifaxin still can't connect. Email clients must be checked and saved before moving on.

3. Generate the App Password

3.1 Go to Account management

Back in the inbox → top-right avatar → dropdown → Account management:

After redirecting to Yandex ID → top nav Security → scroll to find App passwords:

In the App passwords creation area, find the Yandex Mail row → click the + next to it:

3.4 Name it → generate → copy

4. Bind in Laifaxin

Go to Laifaxin Email Accounts and add your Yandex email:
